Situated on the ancestral land of Ho-chunk and Potawatomi, just over an hour from Chicago’s O’Hare and Milwaukee’s General Mitchell airports, an hour south of Madison and 15 minutes outside of Beloit, Wisconsin Loving Arms Farm (formerly known as Brown Deer Farm) was re-established under new ownership in the winter of 2024. Decades of prayer, ceremonies, and unending labor on the part of our predecessor have resulted in the welcoming and peaceful sanctuary. We invite those seeking refuge from hectic lives for a chance to move at the pace of nature and breathe fresh air. Whether you are looking for personal time away or would like to host small group, our humble environments keep you close to nature.

The Land is cared for by three women who joined in a vision shared with their predecessor. The land speaks to us, holds us and heals us and in the spirit of reciprocity we care for the land and share her gifts with others.
Amy has over 25 years experience as an educator teaching kindergarten with over 25 years of apprenticeship to Ojibwa elders in pipe ceremony, vision fast and sweat lodge. Amy’s connection to the land and knowledge of how to care for it, paired with unparalleled kindness and compassion are foundational to the experience of our guests.
Martha is a psychotherapist by day with over 15 years of experience in ritual and ceremonial work. Martha is passionate about creating opportunities for individuals to come home to themselves in order to heal relational wounds. Martha’s commitment to grief work helps shape the Grief Hermitage offering.
Shannon is an Afro-indigenous spiritual counselor, senior lecturer at Oakton College and holds a doctorate in mythological studies with an emphasis in depth psychology. She has over 25 years of experience in holding compassionate spaces for the most pivotal moments of life.
