Whether you are mourning a personal loss or feeling the pain of the world, the grief ritual provides a safe space to experience and express freely.

As we face personal and collective losses, fears, and disconnection, we need space to process, and release. Grieving together supports us in transforming our pain into fertile ground for healing - for ourselves, our ancestors, and our collective future. In the spirit of Sobonfu Somé, renowned teacher and voice of African spirituality, we offer this 3-day ritual, guided by skilled and experienced facilitators. Grief is a universal human experience - all are welcome.

Reciprocity

There is a small non-refundable fee to cover the cost of the venue and food during the grief ritual.

Supporter $85 - For those who are financially stable or experiencing abundance. This helps us make the grief ritual accessible to all, regardless of their financial position.
Standard $45 - If you are employed or have just enough to pay for your own needs consistently.
Reduced $15 - For those who are experiencing financial hardship.

Event, Travel and Lodging Information

The March 2026 community grief ritual will be held at the Wyoming Valley School Cultural Arts Center in Spring Green, Wisconsin (6306 State Hwy 23, Spring Green, WI 53588). Spring Green is a small, rural community nestled in the driftless region of Southwestern Wisconsin. Attending Friday is highly recommended for first timers. If you cannot make all three days and would like to “drop-in,” please do so on Saturday before 5pm.

TRAVEL: The nearest airports are in Madison, about 1 hour East: Milwaukee, about 2 hours East; Chicago, about 3.5 hours Southeast. Plan to have a vehicle or ride-share with other participants if you are staying in or near Spring Green since the venue is in a rural location.

LODGING: Plan to book your lodging well in advance since the lodging options are limited. Expect to travel 10-20 minutes to and from your lodging to the event space.

FOOD: Breakfast, snacks and a hearty lunch and dinner will be provided each day. While we will honor and meet all special dietary needs, please be sure to bring any special foods or non-alcoholic beverages you would like to have for yourself.

COVID/FLU: Please be mindful of your well-being and that of others. Do not attend if you are feeling any sort of cold or flu symptoms. Mask if you are immune compromised.

SOBER: Due to the sensitive nature of this work, this is a sober event. No drugs, no alcohol. This does not include any medications you’re taking. If you’re using THC to alleviate any symptoms and worry it might be an issue, please reach out and let us know.

SCHEDULE: Friday March 20th we will gather starting at noon. Each day we will break for the night by 9:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday we will gather by 9:00 am. Sunday we will end by 2:00pm.

The facilitators for this event hold this space open for one and all and recognize the beauty and diversity among us in the BIPOC and LGBTQ communities.
